A downloadable game for Windows

A fangame made in Game Maker Studio based on Castlevania 1 by Konami.

Triton, King of Atlantis, has caused a great flood which has destroyed Simon's seaside cabin! Enter the ruins of Atlantis and defeat the pretentious merman with your Vampire Killer whip so this land may return to normal!

The game works with both keyboard and xbox controller/controller with Xinput

Controls:
[control]: [key] / [gamepad button]
Jump: Z / A
Attack: X / X
Crouch/Go down stairs:
Down / Dpad down
Go up stairs: Up / Dpad Up
Subweapon Attack: Up + X / Dpad Up + X
Exit: Escape at any time (no progress saved)
Exit/enter fullscreen: Alt + Enter

I was able to make one level with what I made, and I tried to make the gameplay pretty faithful to the original NES game, minus a few things like getting stunned when falling too far. Oh, and the death animation, that's completely different ;)
Also, there are two secret spots to break for the tasty meat within. Can you find them?

Just noticed some of the enemies here, was that a bloop?

The mechanics are very close to authentic NES. There are a few things that you may want to consider adding if you are feeling inspired. There is a jump backwards move which is most likely a glitch and the hard landing crouch when falling from a great height. Is there source code to this? I am having trouble with jumping and having my attack hitbox following as well as getting the stairs to work. You did an excellent job.
